For 31 years, the editors of Condé Nast Traveler have been compiling an annual compendium of hotels and cruises they have discovered, or fallen in love with all over again. The editors highlight properties not only for their beauty, comfort, or impeccable service, but also because they have developed deeply emotional relationships with them - the the hotels so wonderful, they recommend to friends, and tell stories about later.

The Brando, French Polynesia
Located on the South Pacific island Tetiaroa, The Brando is the brainchild of actor Marlon Brando and Richard Bailey, and on the path to becoming carbon zero. There are 35 private beach villas ranging from one-to three-bedrooms, all with private pools and the resort hasan ongoing partnership with famed French Chef Jean Imbert, whose focus is on locally grown ingredients from the resort's own garden. There's a traditional Polynesian holistic healing spa, and they offer incredible guided nature excursions so guests can learn all about the birds, wildlife and sealife.

Palazzo Margherita, Bernalda, Italy
Francis Ford Coppola’s, Palazzo Margherita is 9 bedroom hotel owned by leading film director Francis Ford Coppola who was drawn to small but lively Bernalda by family ties. Coppola called on French designer Jacques Grange to impart his inimitable elegance to the interiors. It has one of the best-preserved gardens in Basilicata full of mature citrus trees, fragrant jasmine, bougainvillaea, tumbling wisteria and towering palms. With many enchanting dinning spaces across the hotel and gardens, there are daily pasta classes and once a week, a huge feasting table is laid out for communal grigliata dinners amongst the urns and the vines.

The Colony, Palm Beach, Florida
The Colony, Palm Beach is an iconic retro chic luxury hotel in the Floridian hotspot of Palm Beach, that was the hideaway of choice for the likes of Frank Sinatra and Sophia Loren. Often referred to as 'the Hamptons of the south', the destination is having a renaissance, beckoning a younger, more transatlantic crowd with a surge of new branded restaurants, top galleries and cultural events. With design at its core, the renowned hotel underwent a fabulously pink total makeover for its 75th anniversary in 2022, most recently partnering with Cabana Magazine's editor-in-chief to design their Cabana Bungalow.
